OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Cambodia Education Fund endorses the idea that education is a child’s right, and is also the key to ending the cycle of poverty.  The Cambodia Education Fund supports proficient non-profit schools, individuals with the desire to attend primary, secondary and post-secondary education, educational-oriented orphanages and other educational disciplines.  The Cambodia Education Fund fosters learning and academic excellence by working with local educators and school administrators to ensure children receive access to education.

OUR VISION
The Cambodia Education Fund brings people together in the name of collective community aid. At each event, we share information about Cambodia to increase awareness of the country’s past and how we can support a brighter future. Of course, we encourage people to donate to the cause monetarily, but just asking for money can get old. Board members are involved in annual physical challenges, trivia nights and fundraising events focused on growing community that collectively gives. But we encourage others to get involved by hosting their own events in the hopes of spreading altruistic intentions around the globe.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

Everyday children around the world must choose work over school in order to support their families survival.  In Cambodia, it can seem like a clear choice when the average monthly income is less than $100.  In Siem Reap, a city full of tourists visiting the famous Angkor Wat, work is often prioritized before school.

In 2010, we were those tourists, and as much as we marveled at Angkor Wat, it was the children and people of Siem Reap that truly captured our hearts.  A further look into the country's history and we learned about the violent dictatorship of the 1970s that killed more than two million people.  As alarming and tragic as this recent genocide is, the Cambodian people proved to be the most welcoming and compassionate that we had encountered.

More recently, the pandemic revealed that dependence on tourism isn't a sure way to grow as a nation. With an extremely young population, we see education as the most viable means for positive change.  There are many NGO schools and organizations in place ready to educate and support their local communities, they just need our support.

The Cambodia Education Fund’s primary goal is to support exceptional schools and passionate learners in the Siem Reap area while raising awareness about the power of education.
